The Cut : The Cut - Autumn 2017
GOLF & LEISURE 183 TPC KUALA LUMPUR You’ll find the 36 immaculately groomed fairways of TPC Kuala Lumpur at Bukit Kiara in the Klang Valley, about 8km from the heart of KL. Previously called the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, it was renamed in August last year when it joined the PGA Tour’s prestigious Tournament Players Club (TPC) network. Originally opened in 1991, the West and East Courses were completely remodelled over a couple of years by Parslow & Winter Golf Design. Incorporating state-of-the art technologies and impressive attention to detail, the courses re-opened in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Today, the Sime Darby property is perhaps the most luxurious golf resort development in Malaysia. The West Course, host to the 2010 and 2011 Malaysian Opens, is the more challenging of TPC KL’s two 18s. Running to 6,800-metres from the tournament tees, it’s an imaginative course for the true shot-maker, with undulating fairways, countless shot options into the greens – and great views. Water comes into play on no fewer than 13 holes. The parkland-style East Course is described as an exceptional risk/reward design, with flawless fairways and greens, challenging elevation changes and ‘an environment that enhances the essence of the local terrain’. Facilities include a 78-bay driving range and, inside, a varied selection of eateries. www.tpckl.com ABOVE & BELOW: West Course.
