He turned professional in 2013 and has had three wins on the European Tour. His 1.96m frame helps him generate extreme power. In the 2014 NH Collection Open in Spain he recorded a drive of 384m. This power was evident again in the 2016 Ryder Cup, in which he excelled as a rookie. Whenever he produces a week where he combines keeping the ball in play with a decent putting average, he pushes for honours. He has a good sense of humour (important for a golfer). When asked, “How far away are you from playing on the PGA Tour?” the Belgian answered, “About 5,000 miles!” I think the switch to the PGA Tour is an obvious one for him because it is more suited to his attacking type of game. I’ve no doubt he will win many more tournaments, but I don’t expect him to consistently produce a run of top-10 finishes. MASTERS CHANCES Even though he will be pegging it up at ‘God’s golf course’ for this first time, I’m predicting he will make the cut and may even finish inside the top 20.
