GOLF & LEISURE 39 WHAT HAPPENS ON TOUR... modest. She wanted to work for herself and decided to set herself up as a golf tour operator. It was an enterprise that would utilise the skills learned during her career in marketing and tie in nicely with her love of travel and golf. She came up with the name PaR nz Golfing Holidays, with its unique use of upper and lower-case letters, and a somewhat flimsy business plan. Next she placed an ad in an Australian golf magazine, from which she got her first clients, a group of blokes who were keen to travel to New Zealand for a golf holiday. PaR nz Golfing Holidays was up and running. These days, tours into and around New Zealand – which include New Zealand Golf and corporate tournaments and charity events – make up just a part of what the company does. PaR nz Golfing Holidays’ offshore tours are its really big business. Interestingly, when Langdon first started PaR nz Golfing Holidays she had no intention of organising tours to overseas destinations and she admits she was less than enthusiastic when a business contact made the initial suggestion: to take a group of women golfers to Denarau, in Fiji. Eleven golfers accompanied Langdon to Fiji for that first tour; these days she and fellow director Kim Buckley take 300 golfers on back-to-back tours to the island paradise.
